Since its 1983 release, Scarface has become a cult classic among Generation X. Now, Hollywood is exploring the possibility of remaking the iconic crime drama for a third time, with efforts to capture a new generation of fans. Michael B. Jordan is rumored to take on the role of the infamous Tony Montana.
Currently in development with acclaimed director Luca Guadagnino (Call Me by Your Name, Challengers) set to helm the project, this would mark the third cinematic version of the story if it moves forward. The original film, directed by Howard Hawks in 1932, was set in Chicago during the Prohibition era. The most famous iteration came in 1983, when Al Pacino delivered his legendary performance as Tony Montana in Brian De Palma‘s violent and stylized adaptation.
While Jordan’s involvement has generated significant buzz and speculation, his casting has not been officially confirmed. Reports suggest this new version would relocate the story to Los Angeles, continuing the franchise’s tradition of updating the setting for contemporary audiences.
